‘Snickers Bar’ Hair Color Is the Perfect Shade for Fall

When it comes to the season’s trendiest hair color, Beverly Hills, CA celebrity colorist Chad Kenyon is currently going the “candy” route.

“My clients are thrilled with this tasty-looking hair-color treat I’ve so enjoyed I’ve so enjoyed creating,” Kenyon says of the indulgent shade. “I call it Snickers bar hair color; I thought: ‘I’ll create it as a Snickers bar…but make it gourmet!’”

Inspired by the layers of the iconic candy bar, Kenyon uses a carefully curated palette to mimic its ingredients—each chosen not just for its tone, but for its texture and contrast. As he explains, there is nougat (a fluffy base made from sugar, egg whites and sometimes peanut butter or other flavorings; caramel (a soft, chewy layer of cooked sugar, butter and milk); peanuts (roasted, providing crunch and saltiness); and a milk-chocolate coating (made from cocoa, milk and sugar, which covers the whole bar).

“So, in short, it’s chocolate, caramel, peanuts and nougat, layered and coated to create the bar’s signature taste and texture,” he says, offering his color creativity with a detailed (and personal) inspiration. “I even go so far as to take inspiration from Spanish nougat (turrón) from Spain. I lived in Madrid for 16 years and turrón was originally introduced by a the Moors when they ruled what is now Spain and Portugal. It is slightly lighter in color generally and it prompts me to paint a sexy blonde face frame.”

To maintain this multitonal hair color at home, Kenyon recommends starting with a color-safe shampoo and conditioner, and then “using styling products that make real sense for preserving and prolonging hair color.” Right now, he says he likes the “the stellar new Chris McMillan line at Sephora.”
